Hana Yori Dango Vol.29, P.45-81 P.45 (Tokyo Dome is filled with screaming baseball fans) P.46 Tsukushi: There are so many people here! (the two of them are stuck in the really, really far back seats) Tsukushi: Isn't it something to see this many people gathered together on a weekday? (Doumyouji is cringing from all the noise) Doumyouji: Shut up! This is why I didn't want to come! Tsukushi: It is true that we can't see much from seats like these. (Tsukushi turns to the man next to her, who's fiercely gripping a "Maiku" sign) Tsukushi: Pardon me, but are those guys with the red uniforms an American team? (he looks at her indignantly) man: You people came here without even knowing that?! man: This is no ordinary game today! P.47 man: Everyone is waiting to see whether The Bears #4 hitter, Mike Hall, is going to hit one home or not! Tsukushi: Ohh. Tsukushi: (to Doumyouji) What does it mean to "hit one home"? Doumyouji: Who cares. (the super-fan next to her shouts at Tsukushi, with lots of spittle) man: It means a "homerun"!! man: If he hits one today that'll be 80 in one year!! It'll be a new world record! (Tsukushi dabs at her face with a hanky) Tsukushi: I see. Isn't that nice. man: He hasn't hit one yet... (Tsukushi turns back to Doumyouji) Tsukushi: Did you play baseball when you were a kid? Doumyouji: No. Tsukushi: Really? That's pretty unusual isn't it? Doumyouji: You can't do it with only 4 people. It takes 11. Tsukushi: [oh] man: (in irritation) That's soccer. P.48 Doumyouji: For sports, I did karate, juudou, and aikidou. Tsukushi: Eh?? Why those? Doumyouji: It was for abduction prevention. Doumyouji: There were a lot of times when I was a kid that people tried to kidnap me. Doumyouji: So once a week, 3 bear-like guys came to teach me how to fight. Tsukushi: I... see. Tsukushi: [so that's why you're so strong... I guess...] Tsukushi: I suppose your family would be able to pay out a high ransom. Doumyouji: During junior high, I had to fight them off sometimes on the way home. Tsukushi: In junior high...? Didn't you have anyone around to protect you? Doumyouji: I had no choice but to fend for myself. Doumyouji: My older sister was studying abroad, and my parents were both overseas. P.49 Tsukushi: ...... I see. Tsukushi: It sounds kinda lonely. Doumyouji: It wasn't lonely. Tsukushi: If it's lonely, then say so. Tsukushi: You're never honest about things like that. Tsukushi: You were living in that huge house all alone, right? Tsukushi: And now your sister is away again. Doumyouji: Anyway, I'm not lonely now. P.50 Doumyouji: I have you. Doumyouji: I don't need anything else. Doumyouji: It's the first time I've felt like this. It's strange. Tsukushi: [that's too honest...] Doumyouji: I'll kill anyone who gets in the way. Tsukushi: ........ [scary...] P.51 (in New York) henchman: President, the traffic seems to be deadlocked at the moment. I wonder if you'll make the appointment in time...? henchman: I wonder what could be causing so much traffic this early in the morning? Kaede: Call ahead, and inform them we may be late. henchman: Yes, maam. (Kaede sits in her luxury car, perusing a piece of paper) henchman: Ahh, it looks like the cause is a mass of people standing standing in front of the Time Square screen henchman: I heard that Mike Hall is playing in Japan today. They must be showing the game on the screen right now. P.52 henchman: If he hits a homerun today, it will be a new world record. (back in Tokyo Dome, Tsukushi tries to cover her ears and Doumyouji slumps over in depression as Japanese fans shouts "Mike" all around them) Doumyouji: [....] [MAIKU! MAIKU! MAIKU! MAIKU!! MAIKU!!] Doumyouji: It's so damn loud! My ears are going to start bleeding! Tsukushi: Maybe we should try to make a break for it. (however, the other spectators are packed so tightly around them that...) Tsukushi: There's no room to get out. Doumyouji: I'll kick them out of the way!! [MAIKU! MAIKU! MAIKU! MAIKU!] (Mike Hall, at bat, swings at the pitch coming towards him and make contact) P.53 (Tsukushi looks around and sees everyone staring upwards) Tsukushi: Wha? Tsukushi: What's going on? (Tsukushi looks up and sees something round flying through the air) Tsukushi: Something Tsukushi: is coming P.54 Tsukushi: this way...! (she reaches up her hand) P.55 (and the baseball slams into it, sending her flying backwards) P.56 (The catch is broadcast outdoors in New York, on a big screen in between Cup Noodles and Budweisor billboards. Doumyouji Kaede stares up at in shock through the side window of her car.) (Ahaha, they're driving on "Lauryn Hill Street". I had heard that she's pretty popular in Japan...) P.57 Kaede: Makino... Kaede: Tsukushi. P.58 (the catch is also broadcasted on a huge Panasonic screen in Japan, seen by a flabbergasted Sakurako and Shigeru) both: Geh! (and on a wall of TV screens) P.59 Akira: Woah! (he and Soujirou stop walking down the street and stare at the TV screens) Akira: Wh...what is that girl doing?!! (the remote drops from Rui's hand, as he watches the game in his room) Rui: ........ ........ P.60 Sakurako: ........ This is American baseball, right? Shigeru: I'm not sure. Probably. Akira: If this is a new world record... Rui: --then of course it'll be showing in New York too. Rui: [that girl's something else] P.61 (in New York, papers are flying through the air amidst loud cheers) henchman: President, how would you like to proceed? (Kaede stares off into space silently, with her chin resting against her hand) P.62 Kaede: ... Apparently Kaede: I've been allowing them too much freedom. (Tsukushi holds up the baseball happily) Tsukushi: Woow, I even got him to sign it. Doumyouji: Geez, I don't believe you. You're like a frisbee-catching dog! Tsukushi: My body just reacted on its own! My hand is still stinging a little from the impact. Tsukushi: I guess I'll keep this ball as a memento. Doumyouji: I'm starving. Doumyouji: Let's get some food... but I suppose my cards are unusable. P.63 Tsukushi: I still have 500 yen left. Let's go to that hotdog stand over there. (Tsukushi runs over to the stand) Tsukushi: Mister, two dogs please. Doumyouji: Hotdogs........ [and made by that dirty old man on top of it] (Doumyouji goes on alert suddenly) Tsukushi: (holding the hotdogs) Doumyouji? What's wrong? Doumyouji: ... Nah. Doumyouji: It's nothing P.64 (Tsukushi sits down on a railing) Tsukushi: Let's sit here and eat. (she holds her hand over her mouth) Tsukushi: Ahhhh, it's kinda funny! Doumyouji: What? Tsukushi: You sitting on a guardrail, eating this kind of food. Tsukushi: If your fans at Eitoku could see you now, I'm sure they'd be weeping. Doumyouji: Like I care. Tsukushi: So?! It's pretty good, huh?? (Doumyouji stares at his hotdog) Doumyouji: Huh. Doumyouji: I don't know if I could call it good exactly. Tsukushi: But I guess your tastes are gradually adapting to the common people's level. That's a good sign. Doumyouji: What do you mean by that? Tsukushi: Because, I'd like to think that we could eat the same foods and both enjoy it. P.65 Doumyouji: Then why don't you adapt to my tastes? Tsukushi: That's out of the question. I couldn't afford your tastes. Tsukushi: Ah, look. Tsukushi: The stars have come out. (they stare up at the sky) Tsukushi: I guess you can see them sometimes even in Tokyo. Tsukushi: It feels like it's been ages... since I've looked up at the sky. Tsukushi: For a long time I just haven't had the liesure to. Tsukushi: They're usually pretty hard to find, but I guess they come out every once in a while. P.66 (Doumyouji looks at her calmly) Doumyouji: So where do you want to go next time? Tsukushi: Let me think, where would be good? (Doumyouji's cell phone rings in his pocket. He pulls it out and looks at the screen.) Doumyouji: It's Akira. (he shuts it off) Tsukushi: Ah! What about Mimasaka-san? (Doumyouji stands with his back to her) Doumyouji: It's ok. It can't have been anything that big. Doumyouji: Let's go home. I'll walk you to your apartment. P.67 Tsukushi: Ok. (see watches him from behind) Tsukushi: Somehow Tsukushi: he seems a little strange...? (TV screens everwhere are still reporting on the big game) TV: In his native country of America the excitement is enormous. TV: Why don't we show we show the footage of the girl catching the record 80th ball one more time? P.68 (Akira stares at his cellphone angrily, while Soujirou glances at the Tsukushi footage on the TV screens) Akira: That bastard hung up on me!! Soujirou: This is pretty bad. Akira: Do they realize how much they're faces are being shown everywhere? (Tsukushi and Doumyouji walk through town, unawares) Doumyouji: Gehhh. Doumyouji: My feet are aching. Tsukushi: Don't sound so pathetic. Tsukushi: It's because you're always being driven around in a car that you're such a weakling. Tsukushi: You should use those ridiculously long legs more often. P.69 Tsukushi: What should I put in the bentos tomorrow? It's always on my mind. Doumyouji: You're still making those? Tsukushi: I have to, for my brother. Tsukushi: Oh yeah, do you want me to make one for you too? Doumyouji: Geh. Tsukushi: What do you mean "geh"? Doumyouji: You might as well make one. I'm getting used to eating that slop. (Tsukushi kicks him in the butt) P.70 Doumyouji: Oww! Why don't you act like a girl and stop kicking people?! (Tsukushi runs away grinning, then spins around) Tsukushi: So, I'll meet you tomorrow on the roof? Doumyouji: Ok. (they reach the neighborhood near Tsukushi's apartment building) Tsukushi: Ah, here is far enough. I'll go on ahead alone. P.71 Doumyouji: It's fine. I'll walk you to your apartment. Tsukushi: Eh?? But the SPs are probably still hanging around there. Doumyouji: It's fine. Tsukushi: What do you mean it's fine? Hey you! (he walks ahead of her) Tsukushi: Wait a minute!! (she runs after him) Tsukushi: Huh? Tsukushi: There doesn't seem to be anyone around. Tsukushi: Anyway, thanks for seeing me home. P.72 Doumyouji: Makino. Tsukushi: Eh? Doumyouji: Let's kiss. Tsukushi: What? Here?! Doumyouji: There's noone else around. (Tsukushi looks around frantically) Doumyouji: ...... You're ruining the mood. P.73 Tsukushi: (clutching her body) I can't do it after all! I'm not a foreigner! Tsukushi: [what if the neighbors saw us?] Doumyouji: Stingy. Tsukushi: You're the stingy one. (hm, I don't know what she means by that...) Doumyouji: (waving) See you tomorrow. Hurry up and get in your room. Tsukushi: Ok, tomorrow then! (Doumyouji watches until she goes into her apartment and shuts the door) P.74 (then his expression darkens) (inside the Makino apartment) Susumu: Welcome back! Susumu: Huh? Why is your face red? Tsukushi: Eh?! Probably just because I was running. (she pulls off the coat of her uniform) Susumu: Sis, I'm hungry. Tsukushi: Oh, wait a sec. I'll fix dinner right away. (she gets to work with a quiet smile on her face) Susumu: Sis, did something good happen? Susumu: You look so girly tonight. P.75 Susumu: Did something happen with Doumyouji-sa...? (Tsukushi throws a pot into his face) Susumu: [gyahi] (she jumps on his back, and pulls his legs up) Susumu: I-I take it back! [oowowow] (Susumu slaps the floor desperately) Susumu: [I surrender, I surrender] Susumu: You're not girlish at all! [owowowch] (Doumyouji walks down the street away from Tsukushi's apartment, then stops suddenly) P.76 Doumyouji: You're out there, right? Doumyouji: Show yourselves. (he glares at the shadows that emerge from the fences) P.77 (the men approach him) Doumyouji: ........ You've been following us ever since we left the stadium. Doumyouji: You're not SPs either. man1: Tsukusa-sama. man1: We're specially trained agents. man2: Please come with us quietly. P.78 man: President's orders. Doumyouji: Don't do anything to Makino. Doumyouji: If you do, I'll kill every one of you. P.79 (back in Tsukushi's apartment, a rice bowl falls to the ground and shatters) Tsukushi: Yeesh, that does it. (she reaches down to pick up the pieces, then pulls her hand back abruptly) Tsukushi: Owch! (Tsukushi sucks on her bleeding finger) Susumu: Ahh, what are you doing, sis? I'll pick it up with the vacuum, so move out of the way. Tsukushi: Oww, that was one of my favorite bowls too. Tsukushi: Susumu, what would you like me to put in your bento tomorrow? Susumu: Huh? Normally you always whine about having to do it. P.80 Susumu: I bet something good did happen tonight. (she slaps him) Tsukushi: Don't talk about things you know nothing about! Susumu: [ahh!] Tsukushi: Hurry up and vacuum up the mess! Susumu: Hey, you're the one who broke it! Tsukushi: The next day. (the bentos sit on a blanket on the floor of the rooftop, while Tsukushi stares out over the railing) Tsukushi: He's late! Tsukushi: What on earth is he doing?? P.81 Tsukushi: I waited for him even after 5th period started. (Tsukushi rests her head on her arms somberly) Tsukushi: I'm hungry... Tsukushi: But no matter how long I waited, Tsukushi: Doumyouji never came.
