Hana Yori Dango Vol.27, P.106-131 P.106 Soujirou: You seem to enjoy surprising me, Yuuki-chan. Tsukushi: The several days after that, I was so preoccuppied with my own business that I had no idea what Yuuki was up to. P.107 Yuuki: Sorry, I just felt like waiting for you. Soujirou: It's fine with me, but didn't you consider the possibility that I might not come back? Yuuki: (smiling) I guess I would've gone home you soon if you hadn't. Yuuki: But I really wanted to apologize to you. Soujirou: Apologize? P.108 Yuuki: (bowing) I'm sorry about last night. Soujirou: Sorry for what? Yuuki: For hitting you. Soujirou: Ahh, don't worry about that. Soujirou: I get slapped by girls all the time. I'm used to it. Soujirou: In fact, just a little while ago a girl slapped me saying "what was that night all about?!" or some such. P.109 Soujirou: They get mad at me all the time. It's tough being a player. Yuuki: I'm disappointed. Yuuki: You're back to your old self. Yuuki: Last night I thought I had pulled away that poker face for a moment. Soujirou: Yuuki-chan, I've got a little quiz for you. P.110 Soujirou: I never "do"... excuse me, have relationtions with girls in my class at Eitoku. Soujirou: Do you know why? Yuuki: Well, Yuuki: I suppose because the close proximity would be troublesome? Soujirou: Bingo. You're very smart. Soujirou: You are Makino's best friend. Soujirou: And Makino is dating one of my best friends right now. Soujirou: In other words, it would be even more troublesome than a girl from Eitoku. P.111 (Yuuki is stunned) Soujirou: Sorry to put it so bluntly. Soujirou: But isn't it more fun to hang out as friends anyway? Soujirou: (looking up) Woah, it's night already. Soujirou: It's dangerous out this late, so why don't you hurry on home? P.112 (Yuuki looks down) Soujirou: Hey, Yuuki-chan. Soujirou: Yuuki-cha...? Yuuki: ... I want the full course. Soujirou: Huh? (Yuuki smiles) Yuuki: The full course please. Yuuki: You layed it out the other night: date, kiss, bed. You said you'd do any of them for me, right? P.113 Yuuki: A samurai can't go back on his word, right?? Soujirou: Samurai? Soujirou: I wouldn't call myself a samurai. I'm more of a tea man... Soujirou: But nevermind that. Don't talk about going to bed, Yuuki-chan. You're not the type. Yuuki: If I can't even say that much, how could I be in love with someone like you, Nishikado-san? Soujirou: I see. Yuuki: I'll give you my cell phone number. (Yuuki scribbles it down onto a piece of paper, and holds it out to him) Yuuki: Once you have your schedule figured out, give me a call. Soujirou: "Schedule"...? P.114 Yuuki: Well then, see you later! (she starts to walk away) Yuuki: Ah! (Yuuki turns around and bows) Yuuki: Excuse me for talking up your time! Soujirou: Uh. Soujirou: Not at all. (Yuuki dashes away) Soujirou: I have to hand it to her. Soujirou: She's definitely that weed-girl's friend. P.115 (Yuuki leans against a fence, gasping for breath. He legs tremble beneath her.) P.116 (her legs collapse under her finally, and she falls down) Yuuki: ... Hang in there. Yuuki: Keep trying. Yuuki: Do... Yuuki: Do your best! P.117 (Tsukushi sits back on the top of the emergency stairs, looking up at the sky) (the door opens behind her) Rui: Heya. Tsukushi: Hanazawa Rui. P.118 Rui: What's with your face? Tsukushi: Huh? Is it weird? Rui: You have dark circles under your eyes. Tsukushi: Oh. It's because I didn't get any sleep. Tsukushi: My family is moving residences right now, so I spent all last night packing cardboard boxes. Rui: Where to? Another fishing village? Tsukushi: ...... Fishing--? No, no more fishing villages. Tsukushi: It's because my father finally found work. Rui: Really? Tsukushi: He's helping out at a supermarket. (flashback to packing the night before) ~mother: I guess we can't keep imposing on your friends forever. P.119 ~father: True, true. Although I kind of like this fancy place. ~Susumu: Still, no matter how many days we live in this condo I never quite get used to it. ~mother: I guess Doumyouji-sama was also just another brief dream we saw. ~mother: (lifting a box) Hup! ~father: But it's still impressive to know that our daughter was liked by such a guy. Tsukushi: I'm sure they'd be overjoyed if I told them... Tsukushi: But there's no way I can say it. Rui: It's nice that your dad found employment. Tsukushi: ........ Yeah. P.120 Tsukushi: But the place they're moving into is only one 4 and a 1/2 mat room. (she's using the tatami mat method of measuring floor space) Rui: 4 and a 1/2 mats? How big is that? Tsukushi: [this is why I hate bonbons...] ("Bonbon" in Japanese, I'm guessing, is a slang word for rich people. I don't know whether it comes from the English word or not, but I thought it was cute so I translated it that way...) Tsukushi: It's probably a little smaller than the size of your bathroom. Rui: You're lying. Rui: [people can't live in a place like that] Tsukushi: I'm not lying. Tsukushi: But of course there's no way a family of four can live in a space like that. Tsukushi: That's why my brother and I are going to live together, just the two of us. Tsukushi: My parents already found an apartment for us, but it doesn't have a bathtub. P.121 Rui: No bathtub? You're lying. Tsukushi: I'm not lying, ok?! Rui: Then do you wash your body in the sink? Tsukushi: [this is tiring......] Tsukushi: Uh-uh. There's this little thing we like to call a "public bathhouse". Rui: Well, it sounds like you've made a good start. Rui: You've dating Tsukasa again, right? P.122 Tsukushi: Ah. Rui: Akira told me yesterday. Rui: If I had known there was going to be such a big announcement, I would've skipped sleeping and gone to the party. Tsukushi: Er, well........ Tsukushi: Uwa. Tsukushi: It just Tsukushi: sort of happened that way. Tsukushi: That was a surprise attack. P.123 Rui: I must admit that I have mixed emotions. Rui: I feel a little happy, and a little lonely too. Rui: I hope things go well between you two, but still Rui: you were very important to me, Makino. Tsukushi: Eh? Tsukushi EH? Tsukushi: Im-important? Rui: Yeah, if you want to know-- P.124 Rui: you're like my pet. (ears pop out of Tsukushi's head) Tsukushi: So idiotic... (she stands up with a tail sticking out the back of her skirt) Tsukushi: [I shouldn't have expected too much] Tsukushi: Class is starting, so I'm gonna go. Rui: Bye bye. Good luck with moving. Tsukushi: Yeah, thanks. (Tsukushi is on her way out the door) Rui: The happiness side wins out. Rui: If you're the girlfriend of one of my best friends, then you and I can be friends forever. P.125 (Tsukushi looks back at him) Tsukushi: Hanazawa Rui. Tsukushi: Did you know, that I liked you? (Rui looks up at the sky) P.126 (he raises two fingers up, with his back to her) Rui: Of course. Rui: You're going to be late for class. Tsukushi: I finally said the words that I couldn't say for the longest time. Tsukushi: This is the moment that love transforms into friendship. Tsukushi: My first small love has ended. Tsukushi: But I'm so happy just to be able to call us friends. P.127 (that evening) Tsukushi: Yeah, I'm bringing my luggage over there now. Tsukushi: Ah, it's fine. Don't come. Really! My brother is here too. Doumyouji: Why didn't you say that earlier?! (Tsukushi holds the phone away from her ear) Tsukushi: Well, excuse me for not telling to right away! Susumu: Sis, who are you talking to? Tsukushi: (into the phone) Ah! Talk to you later. Bye! (she hangs up) Susumu: I guess we've brought it all now. Tsukushi: Yeah. Ahh, I'm exhausted. (they stand in front of their modest new apartment building) Tsukushi: With a rent of only 25,000 yen, I guess you can't expect much more than this. P.128 Susumu: The apartment we lived in before was run-down, but the rent was still higher. Tsukushi: Yeah, because that one had two rooms. Tsukushi: Susumu, aren't you a little excited? Tsukushi: This will be your first time living away from your parents. Tsukushi: But don't get too excited. You have to work hard on your studies, or you'll end up like papa! (she whacks her brother on the forehead) Susumu: Ow! You sound just like mom! (they enter their new apartment) Susumu: Maybe I should get a part-time job too. Tsukushi: Don't bother. I'll take care of the finances. Tsukushi: Yeah, this is no time for me to be excited either... Susumu: Eh? What? Tsukushi: Nevermind. Come on, let's unpack. [I guess just the futon will be enough for now] Susumu: Shouldn't we go over and introduce ourselves to our nextdoor neighbors? Tsukushi: The apartment nextdoor is empty. P.129 (Tsukushi hugs a pillow, thinking of the kiss from the other day) Tsukushi: What happened yesterday seems so unreal. Tsukushi: But I can still feel the touch of his lips on mine. Susumu: I guess we'll have to wait till tomorrow to take a bath. Tsukushi: Yeah, let's just go to sleep. Tsukushi: I wonder what he's doing right now...... Tsukushi: Even if I want to see him, I can't. Tsukushi: We were freer before we started dating. Susumu: Ok, I'll turn off the light. Tsukushi: Ok. Let's get a lampshade for it tomorrow. (Susumu flicks off the naked bulb) Tsukushi: Somehow... these sort of worries seem very luxurious in a place like this. P.130 (as Tsukushi and Susumu lie asleep in bed, a man in glasses and dark clothing climbs in through the window) P.131 (the man steps on Tsukushi accidentally) Tsukushi: Ow! [what're you doing, Susumu??] (she jerks up to a sitting position, and meets the eyes of the uninvited guest) Tsukushi: [kyaaaaa!] Tsukushi: Our first day moving in, Tsukushi: and already we have a burgler!
