 8/01 Notes: ^_^ Thanks for checking out my translations! These are from Chinese 
to English, so my accuracy and speed is a *whole lot* better than my 
Japanese-English attempts. But if anybody would like to correct me on 
names/titles or something (I've taken the liberty of coming up with completely 
original names for those  I can't translate ^^;;) , that would be greatly 
appreciated!   Any comments are entirely welcome!

 Nao:  Just steal my food like that!  Meanie!
Uehara:  Hey, last time you ate my milk pudding!
Nao:  That’s ancient history!
Marina:  So you’re telling me, that the two of you fight every day?
Nao:  Uh!  The guy’s just plain weird! 
Marina:  How strange~ Uehara doesn’t seem the type to eat a lot.  So skinny and 
stuff.  I was even thinking that he was a vegetarian.
Nao:  Vegetarian?  You thought that he was a vegetarian!?  I told you.  Give you 
that kind of feeling like you’ve been tricked, huh? 
 Marina:  No, it doesn’t!  It’s so cute!  I like guys like that.
Nao:  Whew~ it’s getting hot in here.  Oh, yeah!  But I thinking he’s got a 
girlfriend.
Marina:  What!?  What’s she look like?  Does she go to our school?  What’s her 
name?  Age? 
Nao:  Huh?  Well… I only know that her name’s “Yuri”.
Marina:  Yuri?  Never heard of her~
Nao:  <The whole thing about him kissing me because he thought I was Yuri…>

 Uehara:  I’m back~
Nao:  Oh, hey~ you’re early today!
Uehara:  Un!  Well, I’m taking a nap, then going out again later.  Oh yeah, and 
I’m hungry.  Is there anything to eat?
Marina:  Oh, there’s cake!  Come eat!
Uehara:  Who’s she?
Nao:  Didn’t see her last time?
Marina:  My name’s Konno Marina.  Nice to meet you! 
 Marina:  I bought extra, so go ahead and have some! 
<FX:  smile>
Uehara:  Thanks!  Oh, I saw a commercial for this bakery on TV!
Marina:  It’s right next to my house.
Nao:  <W-wait!  What the hell was that sparkly smile?>  <He treats me completely 
differently!>
Uehara:  Well, you two have fun! 
 Marina:  Wa~ he’s great~ did you see that smile earlier?
Nao:  Forget it~ I’ll leave you alone!
Marina:  But, he always seems so busy with work.
Nao:  Un.  He said that during break, he wanted to work some more.  I think he 
hates to borrow money from his family.
Marina:  Oh~ I’ve heard that Uehara’s parents are gone.  Maybe that’s why he’s 
like that? 
 Nao:  What?  But I’ve heard that his parents were famous athletes.
Marina:  Un!  Those are the rumors.  When he was in elementary school, his 
parents got in a car accident and passed away, leaving only him and his 10 year 
old brother.  Maybe it’s because of that, that he seems kind of troubled?

didn’t want to live in the countryside.  And mom and dad still give me a monthly

plenty of other girls willing to, also!

 Uehara:  I’m going out to eat.  You can use the time to calm down!~ 
 Nao:  <Hisashi probably can’t stand me.>  <Yeah, I think that’s how it is.>  <I 
don’t even know what I’m saying myself~>  <Geh~ he must think I’m such an 
airhead…>  Helo?  Ah!  Marina!

Nao:  What?  Hisashi… isn’t here right now!
Marina:  He’s not back yet?
Nao:  Yeah…

 Marina:  Hey, I saw Hisashi on the street today, so we went and got some tea.

Marina:  I was a little worried about you two fighting, so I asked him about it.

Marina:  You’re going about it all wrong!  The two of you shouldn’t fight, since 
you guys are living together! 
 Uehara:  I think the two of us get along pretty well already.
Marina:  What?  Really?
Uehara:  Well, *because* live together, we sometimes get in fights.  But as long 
as neither of us takes it seriously, nobody really gets hurt. 
 Marina:  His point of view is that you guys only get into fights because it’s 
never for real.  So, you don’t have a thing to worry about.
Nao:  Oh… really…

Nao:  <So that’s how it is…>  <he doesn’t hate me…>  <without knowing anything

 Nao:  <He should still be in the apartment complex, so I’ll…>  Hisashi!? 
 Mi-chan:  He doesn’t get enough sleep or nutrition.  Have him eat well, and 
after resting for 2 or 3 days, he’ll be okay.
Marina:  Mi-chan, you’re the best!  It’s obvious you’re the son of a doctor!

Answering machine:  This is Uehara Hisashi.  I can’t pick up the phone right

Nao:  What?  It’s not his brother…
Yuri:  My husband hasn’t come home from work yet.  I’m Hisashi’s sister in law, 
Yuri.
