Love, Cooperation, Victory...Tearfully?! Illustration: The whole gang is on the cover illustration. Miketani has a cup that says "surfing". Page 2 Kagetora pretends to be a servant of justice ... Warning: If she causes even a single problem, the International Education Committee may possibly revoke her teaching license. Rika thinks: "REVOKE MY TEACHER'S LICENSE?!" Rika is shown as a ballerina like in classical old manga style. Page 3 We see Kagetora in a super hero's outfit with his usual fan in hand and a hood on, grinning. Kagetora: It seems that the committee will be investigating for 2 weeks. So, until then, please stay out of trouble. Take this from The Servant of Justice, Purple Hood (Super Hero's name). Rika gets a determined look on her face. Rika thinks: No, this thing is not over yet! Two weeks! Two weeks! If I can just stay out of trouble that long! Do your best, Rika. It's for your bravo school life! Rika walks awkwardly because she's scared of making a wrong move and she looks smaller (symbolically trying to look unnoticeable). Rika in a small voice: Morning. Masaru: Morning, Rika-chan. Inari's friend: How come you're so tiny? Page 4 Sign: Nothing out of the ordinary has happened since. Rika thinks: I feel someone's watching me, but I can see who it is. The International Education Committee can get nasty. Rika imagines a classical Japanese ninja-style spy. Sign: Spies from the committee. Sahara's mother to her spies: So far, no problems. Good job, all of you. Kagetora: What sort of organization IS this? Looks fun. Miketani's cup: Watermelon. Page 5 Rika thinks: I have to be careful not to make any mistakes. Rika drops some books down a staircase and they hit Sahara on the head. Sahara: Waaaaah! Rika: Ah. Sign: Only she would drop books when she didn't trip over anything. Page 6 Rika: Sorry, Sahara-kun. They were awfully heavy. Sahara: It's okay. Sahara helps her with the books. Sign: Reference room number 9. Rika: Hold on, I'll get the k.... She opens the door and remembers what happened there the last time. Rika thinks: Ah! Uh-oh, this is the place where.... Page 7 Rika: Nope. I shouldn't let myself get upset. Rika blushes and her behavior looks nervous and rushed to get him out of there. Rika: That's enough. I'll take care of putting them away from here. Thanks for bringing them, Sahara. Sahara thinks: She's easy to see through. Sahara makes the same moves he made when he gave her the "you better keep quiet" kiss by appearing to pin her to the bookshelf. Page 8 But this time he fakes her out by just putting a book on the shelf behind her instead. Sahara smiles mischievously... Sahara being sarcastic: You have nothing to be afraid of. I'm a good student and wouldn't think of bothering my teacher. Page 9 Rika throws books out the door aiming them right at Sahara, who is in the hallway (as Okami shows up). Okami: Sahara. Sahara and Okami remember what the guys from Komori High said... Komori guys: "Son of a Bitch, you'll PAY for this!" Okami: So far, since then the Komori High guys haven't shown up here. Sahara: Is that so? I hope they stay like that until after the Investigation's over. Page 10 Rika: How MORTIFYING! He made such a fool of me! If he can tease me that easily, I wonder if it means he doesn't love me anymore. Sign: At Komori High School... Someone: Hey Koji! I've heard from a friend at Shishimaru Academy that Usami Rika is actually a teacher there. Koji: You've GOT to be KIDDING. She looks younger than us. Guy: Yeah, she's only 16 years but she skipped grades abroad. Guy 2: How could that be? Page 11 Guy: That scum, Sahara, is behind her. What're we going to do about it? Koji: We can't let it go unpunished. If our enemy's a teacher, there are ways to get to a teacher. Koji: Don't dismiss me as just a supporting character (it's like he's talking to us). Guy to Koji: Hey you, what a cool brute! Page 12 Rika thinks: 2nd week of doom. Today they'll have an emergency teachers' meeting. I guess that means that the committee will give the results of the investigation. I tried really hard to stay out of trouble. Sign: She broke the Principal's Office window during volleyball. Sign: While playing Hokuto no Ken, a student got a nose bleed. (The students in the background yell "Masaru!" because Rika kicked him in the face). "Hokuto no Ken" is a manga/anime about martial arts. Sign: Meeting Room. Someone opens the sliding doors. Sahara's mother: Chow. Nice to meet all of you. I'm Sahara Rioko (Masatomo says no "y" in this name) from the International Educational Committee. Page 13 Rioko: Oh, you're so much cuter than in your pictures, Rika-chan. Nice to meet you. Rika: Oh, thank you. Miketani's cup: Sea. Rioko: Thank you for taking care of Leo. Rika thinking: Oh? This lady...I feel as though I've met her somewhere. Rika: Eh? Kagetora: Is it okay to tell her your name when you're her student's mother? Rioko: It's fine. As of today, my official duties are over. Rika: Ack! Rika thinks: Sahara-kun's MOTHER?! Oh yes, she looks like Sahara-kun. Page 14 Sign: First year, Class B Guy: What's going on? Look over at the school gate. Girl: Why so many guys from Komori High? Koji: Yo. We're here to thank you for what happened last time. Page 15 Sahara: I guess it didn't get through to you what I meant. Koji: Shut up. If you don't want trouble, come with me. If I tell about a certain teacher going to a party and playing in the night, it won't be good for her, will it? Masaru: He-Hey, should I go get the teachers? Sahara: It's okay, he's nothing more than a pen pal of mine. Note: He's basically using "pen pal" to say that the situation isn't dangerous. He's trying to calm Masaru down. Koji: Gaaaah, who the HELL is your pen pal?! Okami: Sahara. Sahara: Don't follow us. Listen, don't make the problem worse than it is today. Don't you even tell Rika-chan about this. Page 16 Okami remembers Rika talking to Jakou: "If you do anything inappropriate to my students again, you'll have me as an enemy even if it ruins my career as a teacher.." Okami: You MORON! It's... Rika-chan'll NEVER understand why! (why he didn't let her know so she could handle it.) Inari in tears: Sahara-kun's been taken away! What should we do?! He was taken away by those creeps. If something happens to him like ...beep (censored) or beep (censored)... (There's pictures of homosexuals) The "beep" above is literally the sound of a buzzer or beep like you might get on TV, followed by the comment "censored", she didn't literally say "beep". Inari's friend: I think you've been reading way too many of the wrong kind of books. Others: What?! What?! Page 17 Sign: Meeting room. Rioko: For the reasons listed, as the result of our secret investigation of your fitness to be a teacher,...Congratulations, the International Educational Committee now authorizes you as a teacher officially. Background music: Ba Ba Ba Bam (a kind of ta-dah sound) The other teachers give applause. Rika: You mean it? Rioko: Of course, there were a few tiny problems, but we've given you credit for being new brand of educator, who is able to interact with students on their level. Now, from the committee, I award you your authorization badge. Page 18 Rika has tears in her eyes as she accepts it. Rika: Thank you very mu..... The door opens. Rika: Okami-kun! Everyone! What's happened?! Jimiko wears a helmet with the character "safe". Teacher: What's going on?! We are having a meeting here! Students must... Okami: Shut up! There's no time for that! Page 19 Okami: Rika, it's bad. Sahara was... Teacher: What's the problem, Usami-kun? It's not polite to behave this way in front of the International Educational Committee. Rika holds out the badge to Rioko. Rika: I'm sorry, I must return this. Page 20 Rika: I'm not able to be a great teacher. Even if it costs me my life, I'd rather save my student's life. Sahara thinks: Oooow. As soon as the Educational Committee are through, immediately I'll start hitting back. Koji: A while ago, you were pretty cocky. Page 21 Koji: DO SOMETHING! HEY! Rika shows up and does her screeching routine with chalk on a board. Rika: IT'S OVER!!! Sahara: Ri.......! Page 22 Rika: I told you, if you do something to any students of First Year Class B, I, Rika-chan, will not sit quietly. Koji: Bitch. Okami: Wanna fight? Sign: He has on ear plugs. Rika's students all take on these guys. Jimiko is attacking a guy with a baseball bat. Inari is doing the same on the same guy's head. A bunny is attacking the guy with a carrot. Masaru is throwing a volleyball at other guys. Guy being attacked by Jimiko and Inari: STOP IT! Rika: SAHARA-KUN! Page 23 Rika kneels on the floor with Sahara with her arms around him crying... Rika: I'm sorry! Kagetora and Rioko watch the fighting from a short distance away. Kagetora chuckles. Kagetora: What I wouldn't do to have the energy of youth. Pretty good. Rioko: Shall we get the story from them after they're through? Page 24 Miketani: On the issue of revoking her Teacher's License... Rioko: Well, since the investigation is already over. And it's too much trouble to write up the report all over again so...there's nothing more to it. Kagetora: I knew you were my magnanimous sister-in-law. Rioko: The little one in Australia....it's amazing how much she's grown. Rika: Huh? Rioko: No, never mind. Page 25 Rika narrating: As things stand now, the International Educational Committee has left. I don't know why, but I'm able to stay at this school. Miketani holds up a regret report written by Rika: "I won't play in the night". Regret report is a letter saying your sorry about something you did. Kagetora on the intercom: Mornin', it's ME! Listen carefully, Brats! The 5th of next month is my birthday, so celebrate it. Page 26 Rika's students talk about the birthday celebration competition. Rika: Suddenly, the evil hand of Zahalah reached the School of Justice Youth Academy as he aims at conquering the world. A Monster has a sign that says: Massive Malevolent Deity Monster. Rika: STOP! STOP IT! I WON'T LET YOU DO ANYTHING TO MY ACADEMY! MAGICAL TEACHER RIKA-CHAN IS HERE! TO BAD CHILDREN, A FATAL MIRACLE ITEM! (her little chalkboard and chalk). What's written on it is: Magical blackboard. Rika: SEAL! Page 27 Zahalah: Where is this place? What have I... Other students: Zahalah has reformed. Thank you, Rika-chan. YAY! Rika: I shall return to your school should another incident occur! Sahara: We should reject it. Rika: Oh?. Boooo! Why? Sign on the board: The Principal's Birthday Party - Hidden Talents Class Competition. First Year Class B's plan: A play entitled "Magical Teacher, Rika-chan". Director, Script-writer, and Main character: Rika." Sahara: IT'S TOO SHORT A TIME TO GET SOMETHING THAT COMPLICATED PREPARED! AND DOESN'T IT EMBARRASS YOU?! Page 28 Sahara: Anyone have other suggestions? Students talking: Who cares? I haven't heard that there's a prize this time. Inari: You sure? Sahara: BE QUIET! Jimiko: Stop chatting. Anyone with an opinion, raise your hand. Rika thinks: They're just like always. But then, people change little by little. Sahara: Now Masaru-kun, your opinion. Page 29 Application form held by Jacou: "First Year Class B, Okami, Men's Volleyball Club." Jakou: What's this for? If you're not serious and join us, it'll cause nothing but trouble. Okami remembers Kagetora talking: "Actually, Jakou has a lot of faith in your ability." She thinks you're very cute, that's why she resents you for what happened. Forgive her for her strange personality. Okami: That's hard to believe. Okami: Again, I'm picking up balls (younger players aren't allowed to play and have to do all the grunt work). I'm in your hands. Jakou: The truth is that you love the little girl, right? Okami: NO! I've been just like a dog attached to the owner who adopted me. Jakou: Isn't it more of a case of sour grapes? Okami: Shut up, you old battleax. Rika: Sahara-kun, you've stopped wearing glasses? Page 30 Sahara: Yeah, actually my eyesight isn't bad and I've broken two pairs. They were more of a prop to make me look like a serious student. Rika: Sahara-kun, you look more honest looking without them. Sahara smiles teasingly: If I were to retire from being the well-behaved student, I'd just have to pursue my teacher. Rika kisses Sahara on the cheek. Sahara looks shocked. Page 31 Sahara, still shocked, blushes. Rika: Fine, if the pursuer's Sahara-kun. It doesn't matter if you're the well-behaved student or the bad boy, because I love you that much. And in a small voice: This is payback for the times YOU caught ME off-guard. Usami Rika, 16 years old... Page 32 Rika: ...at a Bravo Academy. Right now, I'm enjoying my youth. Miketani: Have you decided on a prize for the The Birthday Party - Hidden Talents Class Competition? Kagetora: Taking the entire class to eat all they want...during a trip to Australia. NOTE: This was the end of the story. HOWEVER, thanks to Masatomo, I found out that there's a special story in a extra summer issue that I'll have to order separately. It's the Summer Vacation Issue due for release on August 18, 1999. Will try to get ahold of it. karen.duffy@bbs.chemek.cc.or.us ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
