(PAGE 2) Today is somehow a different morning than usual. [Mai is on the roof of her school standing next to the edge, and it's windy and she has bags under her eyes.] Mai: "....." (PAGE 3) Mai: N-No! I can't face Sen!! My heart will definitely stop! Mai: WHY are we in the same class, why... Box pointing at Mai: Of course, she didn't sleep. Girl 1: "Eh, something's with her. That's dangerous!" Girl 2: "Does she feel like dying!?" What good is it if I rub my face. Mai: "......" No matter how much I think about Sen. [Flashback begins of what happened after the kiss.] Mai: "...I'm-" (PAGE 4) [Mai gets up, blushing, and tries to leave really fast.] Mai: ".....I'm going home!" Mai: "Bye! See you tomorrow!!" [Mai runs into the door.] Sen: ".........." [Flashback ends. Mai kneels down with a painful/embarrassed look on her face.] Mai: Ah, geez! It's the worst...!! Don't run away alone! (PAGE 5) "Sen, because you're here-" That was the first time I said those kind of words to someone... (PAGE 6) [SD Tomo comes running to an irritated SD Mai, and the girls from before are pointing at Mai for Tomo.] Tomo: "Ah! It's Mai-chan! Don't be rash!!! You are not living half a life yet!!" Girl: "It's her!" Mai: "WHAT?" [Mai is walking to her classroom, and her heart is beating a lot.] Girl: Good morning--- [Mai sees Sen.] Mai: "G-" (PAGE 7) Mai: "g- G- Good morning!" Sen: " 'morning." [Mai's heart starts beating REALLY fast and REALLY hard. (dokan dokan dokan dokan dokan)] Text: (The sound of her heart.) [Mai sits down nervously.] Mai: "Ah!" Sen: "......" (PAGE 8) Why is it? Why!? How do I usually talk to Sen? I forgot. Teacher: "Okay, finish up. Exchange with the person next to you. Please grade it." Student: I don't understand at all-- [Sen hands Mai his paper.] Sen: "Here." [Mai doesn't notice Sen.] Sen: "...." Sen: "Here! Hey." Mai: "huh" [Mai stands up and is mad at Sen.] Mai: "Eh? WHAT!?" (PAGE 9) [Sen holds up his paper for Mai.] Sen: "....You're grading it. Hand me your paper." SD Mai: "Oh, right!" [Mai's paper doesn't have any answers written on it.] Sen: "What? You didn't do it. Okay, 0 points." Mai: "ah, um..." [Mai looks kind of sad, which Sen notices.] (PAGE 10) [A student suddenly yells really loud and shocks Mai.] Student 1: "Does someone have a bottle opener?--" (NOTE: Bottle opener is sennuki, and it's written with the "sen" part really big and bold. I guess this is supposed to be an extra surprise for Mai, since she probably thinks they're saying Sen's name at first.) Sen: "!" Teacher: "Hey! We're in the middle of class!!" Student 2: "Who was that? Who said a bottle opener or something?" Student 1: "But today I brought juice!" Student 3: "Ah- that thing is a meager fruit juice!" Student 4: "haha! IDIOT. Animal!!" Mai: "~~~~~" Sen: "------..." [The bell rings.] Sen: "Hey." (PAGE 11) Sen: "Come for just a second." Mai: "O-- Mai: "Okay..." [Sen and Mai are outside now.] (NOTE: The first half of their following conversation was reeeally hard for me to translate. If anyone can correct it for me, please do!) Sen: "Don't do that kind of consciousness." (NOTE: I think he means something like "Don't act like that.") (PAGE 12) Sen: "Be normal. Normal." Mai: "Nor..." Mai: "Normal...? [Mai shouts at Sen.] Mai: "Normal- I think I'm conscious!!" Sen: "...." Sen: think...? (NOTE: Mai's "I think I'm conscious!!" doesn't sound right... And, I'm not sure about this, but Mai says "dasho" [I think/probably] instead of "desho," so when Sen says "think...?" which is originally "dasho...?", I think he's referring to how she said dasho and not deshou... Though I'm not 100% sure, since everything before this was confusing anyway. haha) (PAGE 13) Mai: "...I am. I am!" Mai: "........ What should I do? I don't understand..." [Sen is surprised and Mai is sad/worried.] Sen: "It's wrong." (PAGE 14) [Mai is surprised.] Sen: "Because right now, having a relationship and stuff," Sen: "I can't do that sort of thing." Mai: "...... I understand. I'm going back to the classroom." (PAGE 15) [Mai leaves, and Sen watches her.] Sen: "......." [Mai stops.] I wonder if a kiss has become like a greeting for young people now. When did Japan become such a country? Ha Ha Ha (PAGE 16) Enough----- I am 1 person. ........... ........... It's hopeless. Because it was the first time. Because it was Sen. [Mai looks back, with a very sad expression and on the verge of tears.] Don't cry. Don't cry. (PAGE 17) [Yaezou is sitting around looking bored while some other guys play basketball.] Words above Yaezou: The day after tomorrow. Guy 1: "Isn't Yaezou mixed up?" Guy 2: "What's wrong?" Guy 3: "I don't know." [Yaezou sees Mai walking.] (PAGE 18) Yaezou: "Mai." Yaezou: "Good morning." Mai: "...... Good morning." Yaezou: "Has something made you even more sulky today? What's wrong?" [Mai looks evil and scares Yaezou.] Mai: "heh heh! IT'S NOTHING." Yaezou: You laughed--!! (PAGE 19) [Mai keeps walking, but Yaezou's scared and his heart is beating.] Yaezou: "Scary!" I will forget it! I should just forget it. [Mai looks happy and perky with fruit patterns in the background. She's holding up a piece of gum.] Mai: "Sen, I have gum. Do you want me to give you some?" [Sen and Yaezou look at her.] (PAGE 20) [Sen takes the gum.] Sen: "....okay." Yaezou: "Mai, give me some." Mai: "No. I don't have a reason to." Tomo: "Mai-chaan" [Tomo is standing at the door.] Mai: "Oh, Tomo. Wait, I'm going now. Yaezou: "...." Sen: "...." [Yaezou looks like he's thinking about something.] (PAGE 21) [Mai is sitting at a bench in the park {or somewhere} feeding the pigeons. She's holding a bag of pigeon feed that says "Pigeons Great Joy."] Mai: "Eat pwoperly." (NOTE: She's says "tanto otabe," and I couldn't find "tanto" anywhere, so I'm guessing that she means "chanto" [properly, safe, well, good, etc.], but she's acting like an old lady so her speech is muffled. Correct me if I'm wrong, please!) [Mai has a very sad expression, but she looks up when Yaezou comes.] Yaezou: "What are you doing? Pigeons. Are you an old lady?" (PAGE 22) Mai: "Precisely that, Yaezou. Why are you at this kind of place?" Yaezou: "Mai, let's listen to our hearts freely now." [Yaezou takes off his book bag and sits down next to Mai.] Mai: "Um!?" Mai: What are you saying? Mai: "It's nothing special! Nothing!" Yaezou: "....." Yaezou: "Something happened with Sen, didn't it?" (PAGE 23) Yaezou: "Tell me." [Mai's eyes are a little shocked and she starts to cry.] Yaezou: ".........!" Yaezou: "Mai..." Mai: "...I" Mai: "kissed Sen." (PAGE 24) [Yaezou looks down.] Mai: "It didn't have a deep meaning for Sen." Mai: "..... It's nothing...! But" Mai: "I'm awful." Mai: "I was so happy!" Flashback Sen: "Because right now... Having a relationship and stuff, I can't do that sort of thing." (PAGE 25) (NOTE: The following thought sequence was a little hard for me to translate. I might've translated it wrong, so take it with a grain of salt.) I'm not hoping for a particular amount. Just a little is enough. I wanted a happy time. Yaezou: "Sen isn't like that." [Mai is surprised.] Yaezou: "He doesn't do that kind of stuff." Yaezou: "........" Yaezou: "Because I" Yaezou: "always watch Sen." (PAGE 26) Yaezou: "How does Sen think of Mai? At least, I know." Yaezou: "If you try and talk to him right." Mai: "Yaezou..." Yaezou: "........ I'm going to get us something to drink." [Yaezou gets up and starts walking away.] Mai: "Yaezou!" Mai: "I'm sorry..." [Mai calls to Yaezou while he's still walking away.] Mai: "Thank you!" Yaezou: "Yup!!" Mai: ".....?" (PAGE 27) I wonder why. Geez. I said- I let myself say those things to Yaezou... ....... It's good if I get used to being more adult. Voice: "Miss, why are you crying?" Mai: "huh...?" [Mai, who is using a hankie, looks up to see an old man smiling.] WHO IS HE!!? (PAGE 28) [The old man gets what looks like a suspicious/evil face, sort of.] Old man: "Shall an [old] man comfort you?" What!!? [The old man grabs a hold of Mai's arm, while she tries to move away.] Mai: "It... It's okay. I'm alright!!" Old man: "Don't be shy, don't be shy." No! I'm scared!! [Someone puts a hand on the old man's shoulder.] Girl: "Hey, old man." Girl: "Wha-t are you doing?" (PAGE 29) [Mai looks up with surprise.] Old man: "WhWhat Shut up! You aren't involved, are you?" [The girl notices a pin/badge on the old man's coat.] Girl: "Ah." Girl: "This badge. I know this company." Girl: "It's brass. Is it good? If you're not better, it'll disappear." (PAGE 30) [The old man starts walking away.] Old man: I was only trying to talk with the young girl! Girl: G-go home. [The girl stands with her arms crossed, looking disgusted.] Girl: "HMPH. Damn old man." Mai: "..... Thanks." Girl: "Yeah, it's okay!" [Mai notices Yaezou returning. Yaezou looks surprised when he sees the girl.] Mai: "Ah, Yaezou." Yaezou: "........ Minami..." (PAGE 31) Minami: "Ya" [Minami happily jumps at Yaezou.] Minami: "Yaezou-!!" Minami: Come here~~~~ [Minami hugs Yaezou.] Minami: "Why are you at this kind of place--?! It's been a long time---! I get to see you--!!" Yaezou: ".....!" [Mai looks surprised.] ??? Who is she?? [End of chapter 5.]
